French: Les quatres amis

Image
Year 3 started a new topic- the 4 friends. We listened to a story about the four friends trying to pick an apple from an apple šŸŽ tree. We  joined in with some of the story.  We then looked at which words  were masculine(le)  or feminine (la) then we matched the words to the pictures, using colour codes of red for feminine words and blue for masculine words.

In art we have been looking at artists such as Frances Hatch who use natural materials to create their art work. Along this theme we had a go last week at creating a picture by painting with coffee! Some of the picture were fantastic!

Summer Term 1 - Year 3 - Cricket

Image
Year 3 have been working incredibly hard this half term as they begin their new focus on cricket. It has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm and willingness to learn a new sport. Last week, the students were introduced to the fundamental skills of cricket, taking part in simple drills that focused on bowling, batting, and fielding. They showed great effort in developing their technique and understanding of each role within the game. This week, the focus has progressed towards applying these skills within game scenarios. Students have been developing their knowledge of how the game works, as well as learning the importance of teamwork, communication, and decision-making during play. It has been really encouraging to see the confidence of the group grow, and how well they are beginning to support one another within a team setting. We are looking forward to seeing their continued progress as the term goes on.

Year 3 found out about how the French celebrate Easter, looking at some customs that are the same and different. They found out about the Carnaval de Nice, which is held annually. This year the theme was Vive la Reine.  The children then used their knowledge of colours to colour in some French Easter 🐣 pictures.
