Year 3 Blog 2025/26

 In art we have been thinking about using natural resources to create art. Today Ash class took a trip down to forest school where we used natural materials we found to create art work. The children loved this, using charcoal, bark, grass, flowers and mud to create their pictures. 

 This week in maths we have been looking at 3d shapes. We have learnt about the different properties of shapes including faces, vertices and edges. Today we had a go at making some 3d shapes to help us count the number of each of these. 

 In computing this half term we are beginning by looking at some programming using Scratch. We started today by learning about how to combine different types of commands for example motion and sound to create a sequence for our sprites to follow. We made a prediction about what an algorithm would do and then tried it out to see if we were correct! 

 On Re day today we were thinking about the idea of sacred places. We learnt that sacred means special and we thought about what our sacred places could be like. We then learnt about places which are sacred for Christians and Hindus and had a virtual tour of a church and a mandir. 

Last week year 3 listened to the story about the 4 friends. They also identified nouns  , verbs and adjectives, as well as practising saying and acting out the verbs to show how the animals move. They then used cards to make  sentences about animals in a story. 🐭🐴🐑🐰
