Year 3 - Spring Term - Gymnastics & Hockey 🀸‍♀️πŸ’

Year 3 have made excellent progress in gymnastics this term and have come on in leaps and bounds. They have developed a strong foundation of knowledge and understanding, particularly in their use of correct gymnastics terminology. Throughout their lessons, students have learnt how to perform a wide range of movements including leaps, jumps, rolls and balances, with a clear understanding of points of contact on the floor. They have also explored travelling movements and learned how to use a variety of equipment and apparatus to adapt, develop and enhance their final performances with confidence and creativity.

In hockey, Year 3 have also focused on building the core fundamentals of the game. They have worked hard on ball control, correct stick handling, teamwork, dribbling and shooting techniques. In addition to outdoor field hockey, students have also been given the opportunity to experience indoor hockey and ice hockey (without the ice!) as a way of adapting skills and exploring different variations of the sport. This has encouraged flexibility, curiosity and a willingness to try new challenges.

Overall, Year 3 should be extremely proud of how much they have achieved this term across two challenging sports. A key area of development has been their core strength, control and fine motor skills, all of which have improved noticeably. Their perseverance, enthusiasm and growing confidence have been fantastic to see. Well done, Year 3, great work!
