Spring Term - Year 3 - Tennis & Inclusive Sports

Year 3 have made a fantastic start to their new focus for this half term in PE. During this period, the children will be developing their skills in tennis as well as taking part in a range of inclusive sports activities.

Over the past two weeks, our tennis sessions have focused on developing hand–eye coordination and improving wrist control when using a racquet. The pupils have also been working on ball control, practising a variety of skills and techniques to help them become more confident when handling the racquet. In addition, we have spent time using the nets without racquets, allowing the children to concentrate on body positioning, movement, and spatial awareness, as well as encouraging more tactile and controlled play.

Alongside tennis, the class have been enjoying a variety of inclusive sports, which aim to bring everyone together through teamwork and cooperation. These activities have included developing netball skills and techniques, with a particular focus on passing drills and communication within a team. The children have also taken part in different variations of rounders, such as football rounders, which have helped to build their understanding of game rules while keeping the activities fun and engaging for all.

Overall, Year 3 have shown excellent resilience and enthusiasm when approaching and learning new sports. They have demonstrated a willingness to try new skills, support one another, and persevere even when challenges arise. Well done, Year 3 - keep up the fantastic work!
